How to Use Illustrated Tweets for Business | Twitter Marketing With #illustratedtweets

In October 2013, Twitter released a version of its app designed specifically for Android tablets, and with that update came a brand new feature - Illustrated Tweets. Let's take a look at how this new avenue of communication can be used to benefit your business.

Illustrated tweets allow Twitter users to sketch original images to send out to their followers, or doodle directly over photos in your photo gallery to share. At the time of writing, this feature is only available for "most Samsung tablets." Presumably the novelty does Samsung some good promotion-wise, and also allows Twitter to test the waters before (you'd expect) rolling it out to other versions of its app.

Here are a few examples of the Illustrated Tweets already appearing online, and hopefully some inspiration for your business in using them in the future:

Samsung Mobile

To help kick start the idea of illustrated tweets, Samsung mobile offered to sketch a number of them to people who tweeted them.

Dew Tour

To promote its action sports festival, Dew Tour, Mountain Dew uses an illustrated tweet to overlay a plan flying over spectators.

You could easily do something similar as to the ideas above, as a quirky way to promote products and services to fans, or make them feel special with a personalised sketch. What other ideas do you have for using illustrated tweets? Let me know in the comments below!
